Prompt (prefix) caching makes repeated API calls cheaper and faster. What property must requests share to benefit?
Not quite.
Prefix caching stores the computed KV-cache state for the leading tokens of a prompt, so a request that starts with byte-identical tokens skips prefill for that region. That is why the standard layout puts the long, static parts first (system prompt, tool definitions, documents) and the varying user message last — one changed token invalidates everything after it. It is the same idea as any prefix-keyed cache: share the head, vary the tail.
