What does an inorder traversal of a valid binary search tree produce?
Not quite.
Inorder visits left subtree, node, right subtree — and the BST invariant (left < node < right) makes that exactly ascending order. This single fact solves a family of interview problems: validate a BST (check the sequence is strictly increasing), find the kth smallest element (kth node visited), or find the successor. If a 'BST' question stumps you, asking 'what does inorder give me?' is the standard unlock.
