Implement Top-p (Nucleus) Sampling is a medium coding interview question covering nlp, deep learning, math — the kind asked at FAANG (Facebook/Meta, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) and AI-first companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Nvidia.
Given a probability distribution over vocabulary tokens and a threshold p, implement nucleus sampling: select the smallest set of highest-probability tokens whose cumulative probability is at least p, renormalize within that set, and sample one token from it. This is the decoding strategy used by modern LLMs.
