Design a Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a medium system design interview question covering Distributed Systems, caching, networking, CDN — the kind asked at FAANG (Facebook/Meta, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) and AI-first companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Nvidia.
Design a CDN serving 50 Tbps at peak: images, JS/CSS, and large video segments, with first byte under 50ms for 95% of users worldwide. Origins can handle only about 1% of edge traffic, and a legal purge must take effect globally within 10 seconds.
